Food Stamp Fraud

Business owners and individuals who accept or use federal food stamps are subject to heightened scrutiny in the jurisdiction of the Federal Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. As reported in the December 9, 2013, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, federal prosecution of misuse of food stamp benefits has been increased in this area. Partly due to the opening of a local office of the Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, several federal indictments have been issued recently for illegal trade in food stamps. Anyone who is subject to such accusations should consult with an attorney at once in light of the serious criminal consequences if convicted of theft of government funds or food stamp fraud.
