Pittsburgh DUI Defense Lawyers Can Help

Often times summer celebrations are complimented with food, and alcohol. Unfortunately, some people choose to drink and drive. Whether you are driving a car, boat, motorcycle or bicycle, operating any vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is against the law in Pennsylvania.

Municipal DUI Task Forces, the Pennsylvania State Police and local police departments statewide will conduct checkpoints and roving patrols as part of the impaired-driving crackdown. While local police departments step-up enforcement on our roads, the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission and its Conservation Officers will also be taking to the state’s rivers and lakes on the lookout for intoxicated boat operators.

According to PennDOT records, there were:

June 29, through July 8, 2012
355- alcohol-related crashes
20- fatalities in those crashes

July 1, through July 10 2011
325- alcohol-related crashes
14- fatalities in those crashes

Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission data shows:
60- people were arrested for boating under the influence in 2012.

The allowable blood-alcohol content for legal operation of a vehicle on the road in Pennsylvania is 0.08 for motorists over the age of 21. For underage drivers, the blood-alcohol limit is 0.02 percent. DUI penalties can include jail time, license suspension and fines of between $500 and $5,000. Boating Under the Influence (BUI), penalties can include jail time and fines.
